RE: 2Fort
If I'm playing sniper and getting my ass handed to me by an enemy sniper, I go down to the sewers and shoot at him from the water under the bridge. Most snipers never see it coming since they're aiming at the opposing sniper deck or the bridge.
Of course, it works only once but it's good for a revenge kill at least. |

RE: 2Fort
This is pretty interesting. As you guys can tell I haven't posted here much because I am just getting into this game. I rented the Orange Box a week or two ago and only played a handful of matches on TF2, this was one of them.
I started with the Scout. i though, this is CTF right?? I want the fastest guy. Now remember, this is my first ever match, I don't know the map for shit. I quickly discovered not to take the roof of the bridge, I got across a time or two but quickly died on the other side. Then I also quickly noticed we were several minutes into the match and no one had captured a flag/briefcase. You guys are right, they have no interest in getting the flag. I don't think we even had an engineer with a turret thing near our intel room. Needless to say, it didn't take me long to figure out that their weak point was the sewers. i just hauled ass through there carrying my bat, ran past a lot of their guys who were too worried about killing my guys and grabbed their briefcase. Hauled ass back through the sewers and bashed a spy in the back of the head on the way back into my fort on my way to quickly securing it in our room. I did this twice before I started getting any traffic in that route. Now, I like shooting guys in the face just as much as the next guy. But I also like to win. In a game called capture the flag, it's nice to have those guys that can lay down some fire and keep guys off you, but someone has to go get the damn flag. We ended up winning 3-1 that game because I could tell that they weren't going to push us much more and I wanted to try out some shit and explore the map. But the guys turning CTF into TDM make it a little easier for objective players like me. would have been even easier if I had 1 team mate running with me that could help me flank or just cover me. Wow, that was longer than i thought it would be (that's what she said). Just my initial thoughts. |

RE: 2Fort
I actually prefer CTF over CP, or at least 2Fort over most CP maps. In most CP maps, there's never really a place that you consistently can call a "safe haven", or at least not as much as in 2Fort. I just like that feeling of being safe inside a base and ruining the enemy's foolish attempts to infiltrate the base
Note that I haven't really played any of maps except for the original ones, so yeah "Time you enjoyed wasting, was not wasted"

RE: 2Fort
With Engineer there are 2 spots I try to build in. The first is in the courtyard, right in front of the long alleyway that leads up to the other spawn point. While placing the sentry simply have 1 dotted line just a bit back from actually going down that ally. The gun will protect both entrances and you can setup a dispenser behind you and sit.
The other spot is my favorite but is a bit harder to setup. It's right in the front doorway of the fort. Either corner will work. The trick is to rotate the blueprint 180 degrees and put it right in the corner. Then you setup a dispenser on next to the front wall and that gun can even shoot pesky scouts that are trying to run across the bridge on the roof. It's sick. Agent Mayhem Ok, I got it. Sh*t, I lost it.
