Team Fortress Crashes at Start-up Please Help!
I've been playing Tf2 for about a week and it's been running fine. Now whenever I try to start it up after the source logo disappears and the tf2 loading screen appears the game crashes. When I'm redirected to my desktop a message pops up saying "hl2.exe has stopped working". My other games like Portal and HL2DM match work fine but Tf2 doesn't. All I remember doing between the period of it working and not was
1. downloading skins for the TF2 (but that doesn't seem to be the problem) and 2. Downloading HL2DM. I've tried defragging and veriying the cache, entering -dxlevel 71/ 80, and 90 into the launch options but none of this works. So can anyone help me with this? Many thanks. -NovaStar711 |

RE: Team Fortress Crashes at Start-up Please Help!
Yeah well, it's a Vista error rather than a TF2 error. Anyway, the fix:
For users with Windows Vista Ultimate or Business editions: >>Right click "Computer" >>Click "Manage" >>Double click "Users and Groups" >>Click "Groups" >>Right click "Administrators" >>Click "Add to group..." >>Click "Add" >>Click "Advanced" >>Click "Find Now" >>Double click "Local Service" >>Click "Ok" >>"NT Authority\Local Service" should show up in the list now >>Click "Ok" >>Close Computer Management and reboot. ---------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------- For users with the Home editions of Vista: Go to the command prompt (hit run and type in cmd.exe) and type this in: net localgroup Administrators /add Local Service then you can type this in: net localgroup Administrators and if LOCAL NT AUTHORITY/SERVICE is listed, then it worked. Now go reboot. Join our Steam Group, click here! |

Well I've tried typing in the first command but it said access denied. Then I tried the second and it said I got Admin status. But nowhere was LOCAL NT AUTHORITY/SERVICE listed.

Maj3stics link should solve the problem I guess? I mean, that guide is actually made by the devs themselves and I think they at least *kinda* know what they are doing..
We don't go to Ravenholm.. |
