The Sundry Lot - Casual Gamers

The Sundry Lot has been around for about a year. We have about 30 members and play a variety of games. Most of us casually play TF2 and L4D2, however, we have a CSS team that plays competitively.

We are looking for people interested in just hanging out, posting in the forums (best done at work), and playing games. We have vent, a CSS match server, a TF2 pub, and 2 L4D2 private servers. Our attempt at a CSS pub failed due to most of them already being established and a low influx of new players.

A good group of guys also play Company of Heroes a lot and a lot are looking forward to Starcraft 2 when that comes out.

We don't officially have an age requirement but the majority of us are between the ages of 20-30.

I can't claim to be an avid follower of TF2 lore. But I had an idea for the demoman update and didn't post it. I was going to let this dream die, however, since I just random dropped a sledgehammer for the pyro that will apparently make it a lot easier to kill enemy buildings, I figured maybe the bottom of the barrel has been scrapped and my input might be sought.

The following is my idea from the war update for the demo. If you don't like it then esadiaf.

So the Brits want to win the war see? So the people at Steam/Valve/whatever can create a whole storyline for the Brits/et al. My vision includes an updated eyepatch/kilt. With this update, the demoman gets a shiny new rhinestone encrusted eyepatch and a kilt to replace the tight pants and catcher padding. The key to this update is that the sticky gun is replaced by "The Thatcher" which is a mini-monster truck with a trio of dynamite sticks in the bed and a camera in the front. The demoman can steer the R/C car with the interface on the backside of his eyepatch. While controling the car the demonman cannot see or hear around him and is highly vulnerable to spies and snipers. The demoman can control the speed and direction of the car, all of the controls can be nerfed by steam if "The Thatcher" is overpowered.

In my vision The Thatcher can rapidly accelerate like the charge'n'targe but it must detonate after its charge. again the recharge can be changed by admin to change gameplay.

Devious Roaming Account Hack Plot going around Steam

Last night, I got a message from my mate who I have known for a bit over 9 years now saying that steam was giving away BF: BC 2, and he gave me a link. Of course, the site was complete phony, and waaaay too obvious, but I fell for it, and entered my acc. info.

Reason being, it came from my friend who I've known for so long! Moments later, I ask him if its fake, and he says "Huh" and then logs off, and I get kicked off.

That hit me like a train, and just realized they could have done whatever they wanted right then and there to my account, one of which I've had since year 2000, which holds more than a thousand dollars worth of merchandise on it.

But all the person did was message someone who was apparently on my friends list, which I had no idea who the hell it was (who didn't fall for it since he didn't really know me). And then I logged back on after this "person" logged off it. Nothing had changed on it or anything visible upon first inspection.

Immediately, I changed my password and email and everything. Losing that account would have been next to chopping my toes off.

Its such a devious and brilliant idea, and I'm tempted to try it myself, really. Who would guess that a guy who you've known literally for half your life would try to scam you?

I have a nagging feeling that he logged off of mine on accident, however, since I haven't gotten a phonecall from my mate, an email, and he hasn't logged on steam either.

Its a shame.

When you boot up the game, how do you pick which server to join? My method is pretty random; I just pick one with a map and mode I feel like and with enough players that how much I suck won't be as noticeable. The only thing that makes me leave immediately is if I hear that god damned Unreal Tournament announcer. I just want to hit some people with rockets at 3 in the morning without anyone yelling DOUBLE KILL every five seconds.

What are the things you're interested in that, if you told people you liked them, would get some eyebrow raises? The stuff that you're not supposed to like, but do anyway?

For me, it's an anime series called "Karin" (the manga is titled Chibi Vampire). It's about a family of vampires that have moved from Transylvania to Japan. The main character is a bubbly, cheery, slightly ditzy girl called Karin, who is what you would call a "reverse vampire". She doesn't get affected by sunlight or crosses, she loves eating garlic, and instead of having a need to suck blood, she actually produces it when she bites someone. It's weird for me to be into it since I don't like vampires, and I'm not really into shoujo anime. It's just a really cute series, and when I say cute, I mean puppy dog rainbow bunnies super kawaii desu ^_^ ^_^ kind of cute (yeah, that kind). Another reason I guess is because, to an extent, the romance between Karin and Usui is actually not too bad. It is kind of cliche, but it's at least believable and interesting (and cute). And most of the other characters are pretty consistent as well. Also, I think I have the hots for Karin (if that counts as a reason). Even if she is a vampire, she's still really cute. I'm not sure what exactly makes the show stand out to me, but it just kind of does, I dunno
