Engineer update ideas

Engineer update ideas
know there are already tons of Engineer update ideas but I think this is good so I might as well post it. It would be similar to how the sniper got a primary and 2 secondarys

Primary: The Steam Punk

The Steam Punk is similar to the snipers bow. It is a steam powered rifle that shoots out rail way spikes into your foes. It is very powerful at close range but it has a maximum capacity of 8 shots and takes 1.5 sec to reload the 1 shot into it. Although Engineers wont be on the front line much It would be useful if fighting off 1 person. Also anyone who survived will have a giant iron spike going through there chest.

Secondary: The War Maker

The War Maker (spin off of the gun the Colt Peacemaker)is a replacement for the pistol. The spy may have the revolver but this isn't just any revolver. This is a 375. magnum revolver (same magnum type from half life 2). It would deal a little less damage then the spies revolver at medium range and it carries a maximum ammo amount of 36. The Best part is it is still incredibly accurate at long range.

Secondary: The Pack

A backpack that lets you carry 500 metal but slows you down by 15%

Well I know that was very long but if you just happen to have read some of it then please tell me what you think because ive put a lot of thought into them. I also had ideas for two new PDAs but what do you think of these first?

RE: Engineer update ideas
The pack sounds overpowered, because engies really dont need to move around much when setting up base. Makes them more spie bait too.

Steam Punk sounds crazy. Offensive engie anyone? A little too much like a huntsman. Engies purpose is to build things, not fight 1v1.

War Maker sounds decent to me though. Engie needs something reliable that isn't the default shotgun

RE: Engineer update ideas
The ideas all sound pretty cool, slayer. But I can't see why anyone would take the original weapons over these super powered unlocks!

They would be viable alternatives if you presented some kind of nerf to each weapon.

Here are some nerfs that may make the weapons true sidegrades. I didn't include the Steam Punk because you really didn't include anything about it. (Backup ammo, does it reload all of it's shots at once, etc..)

War Maker: It is a cool unlock that would not be overpowered, no doubt, but it's an obvious upgrade compared to the piece of junk that is, the pistol.

Suggestion: Add a small nerf like 18 backup rounds, and/or slower reload time.

The Pack: It seems like it holds too much metal for replacing such a mediocre weapon.

Suggestion: Change the value of 500. It's far too much in my opinion. Of course it could require some playtesting, but a good value, IMO, to start at is 350.

Overall; The ideas are good, and could be viable replacements for the engineer!

RE: Engineer update ideas
I'm going to resurrect this thread with some Engineer update Ideas I had while in the shower.

Big-Bend Bolt gun:
15 damage gun, faster ROF than shotgun, slower than pistol. Uses metal as ammo. Can repair sentries. Slow/moderate speed moving projectile, alt fire uses 100 metal to fire rail for heavy damage that can knock off sappers.

Texas two-step: Two way teleporter. Has "energy" that must be replenished on each teleporter ala sentry gun

Pan-Handle tool box: Swings 80% slower. 50% more metal capacity.

U rike?

RE: Engineer update ideas
I really like the bolt gun. That would be an especially good sidegrade for the engie's shotty.

RE: Engineer update ideas
Okay I've thought of an Idea.

The Pack Mule: In exchange for his shotgun, the Engineer could pack his Sentry or dispenser into a a cart and pull it anywhere to be deployed in short order. However, pulling this cart means you can't use your weapon and it will slow you down. 10% for a level 1 sentry, 20% for a level 3 sentry and 30% (The minimum any class can slow down is 75% BTW). You don't even need to pull it, you can have any member of your team do so and the heavy suffers no penalties to speed and actually receives a speed boost for moving Level 1 and Level 2 sentries because they're just soo puny compared to good old Sasha!

So a boost for engy AND heavy!

Those sound perfect. But if you made a teleporter unlock, wouldn't you also need something for the sentry / dispenser, like a new set of blueprints for your buildables?
