The Sentry Location thread!
I started this thread on my Arabic forum and it got a pretty good reception so I'm trying it here.

This is how it goes. You post a screenshot of your Sentry and explain why it's good as well as to explain it's weaknesses (no Sentry location is perfect). Please don't put blatantly obvious sentry locations (The first cap of dustbowl for example).

Constructive criticism is welcome!

I'll start:

CTF_2fort

This is a pretty good location to dig in. You cover two entrances and it's pretty hard to take this down without an uber if you tank it right. Try to place the sentry as far away from the wall as possible so it can shoot a bit into the tunnel to it's right (a favorite cover spot for demomen).

Of course, the pathway above you is completely unprotected so please don't place this unless someone has already placed a sentry in the hay room (help him out first as well).

This location is good if the enemy is focused on a good sniper that is backing you up, as Demoman can easily take it out from its blind spot. The enemy can't maneuver very well in front of it (especially if the bomb cart is there!) so they should easily be chewed up and this area becomes a killing zone.

The opposite building (behind me in the picture) also provides a clear line of site to pretty much every class to take out your SG from long range so if you team up with another engie and have him place his own SG up there you've pretty much got the area locked down!

CTF_Well

This covers the main two entrances into the int room. The dispenser is placed there to jam up the doorway,so no sneaky spies will bother you from there. If you have another engie, he can place his own dispenser on the opposite door (behind me in the pic) to jam both doorways!

The teleport is there as a spy bait Awesome Face(It's hilarious seeing a spy rush in to your base in a disguise and when he doesn't see the SG, goes straight for the teleporter and gives himself away!)

Of course, the Third floor provides an easy way to dismantle these SGs as well as a clear,unprotected route to the intelligence.

Don't have pictures, but I know pretty nifty places.

1. Roof of B, Gravelpit - You get a nice clear view of all the area around you, and it pretty much protects all of B, it is unsappable unless the Spy uses your teleporter, but sadly, it doesn't protect the capture point for anyone who manages to sneak into the building, so only build this when there is already a sentry inside the building.

2. The centre point roof, Fastlane - Pretty much the same as Gravelpit roof B.

3. Goldrush, stage 1 - On the balcony near the RED Spawn. Covers most of the area, fairly easy to take down though.

4. Goldrush, stage 1 - The area that opens when BLU caps the first point that views the tunnel the cart will eventually come out of. Can be reached before the gate is open by crouchjumping from the balcony into the window and placing a teleporter.

Yeah, all my tricks are advanced ones that include crouchjumping off dispensers and stuff. I could teach you if you message me over steam.

Don't have any screenshots, BUT, you can camp a sentry in the corner of the spawn/ intel hall in 2fort. It's a great spot because the enemy more than likely has to get into view of it to reach the intel, and when they try to get it back out, bang.

Draw the HUD is taking away the health, kill and Machine interfaces, leaving only what's happening on the screen and the character's hands.

It's a command in the console.

Your location in well is a genious locationBig Grin
but as you say its a weak loaction a demoman can easily set stickys from the top floor and destroy the sentry
and even though the dispenser blocks one entrance from spies, they can easily get away after sapping dispenser
